Emergency Orders for LA and Ventura Counties
Commissioner Lara releases emergency orders for Los Angeles and Ventura counties to help speed recovery process during wildfires. The Palisades, Eaton and Hurst fires are still active at this time affecting almost 50,000 acres, more than 12,000 structures destroyed and tens of thousands of people displaced.
The Department of Insurance consumer services team is available to assist and are offering free in-person claim support in Santa Monica this weekend, Jan. 18-19, and Pasadena next weekend, Jan. 25-26. Call 1-800-927-4357 to schedule your one-on-one appointment with an insurance expert at one of these workshops. The Department is urging victims of the wildfires to file their claims with their insurance company or agent before contacting a public adjuster or lawyer.
The Department has also advised to check the license of your adjuster to avoid any fraudulent activity in an effort to protect survivors. Get tips here to avoid being scammed after a disaster or file a complaint here for any questionable or fraudulent activity.
