Special Training/Education Requirements
All New Mexico property and casualty producers who sell flood insurance must complete a one-time 3-hour course approved for National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) training.
Nonresident licensees that do not complete CE in their home state must complete New Mexico’s CE requirements.
The license term is every 2 years ending on last day of the producer's birth month.
A course may not be taken for credit more than once within 3 years from the original completion date.
No excess CE credit hours may be carried over to the next license term.
Producers are exempt from continuing education if one of the following is true:
- The producer holds a limited license.
- The producer has been an agent, solicitor, nonresident agent, or nonresident broker for 25 years or more.
- The producer maintains a license solely for the purposes of receiving renewal fee residuals and does not otherwise transact the business of insurance.
- The producer is an agent of a fraternal benefit society.
- The nonresident producer has met the CE requirements of his or her home state.
Exam proctor requirements
Self-study final exams do not require a monitor.
Self-study final exams are open book. Licensees may refer to the course material as often as needed. The final exam must be passed with a score of 70 percent or higher to receive credit. If the final exam is not passed on the first attempt, students have an unlimited number of retakes.
A roster fee of $2.00 per credit ordered is required to process course completion hours in Arkansas and will be added to the order total upon checkout.
