{"id":479,"date":"2021-05-29T20:18:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-29T20:18:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.insurancestudy.com\/blog\/?p=479"},"modified":"2021-10-21T20:36:34","modified_gmt":"2021-10-21T20:36:34","slug":"kansas-senatebill37","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.insurancestudy.com\/blog\/2021\/kansas-senatebill37\/","title":{"rendered":"Changes for Kansas Insurance Continuing Education"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Kansas continuing education (CE) requirements for licensed insurance producers will change due to the passage of Senate Bill 37. These changes and their effective dates are outlined below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Effective July 1, 2021<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Proctors will no longer be required for self-study final exams for resident licensed producers completing their Kansas insurance continuing education.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The license renewal date for all Kansas\u00a0producers is changing from their date of birth to the last day of their birth month. A producer\u2019s license term in Kansas is every 2 years, based on their date of birth. Producers born in an even-numbered year are required to complete their CE in even-numbered years by the end of their birth month. Producers born in an odd-numbered year are required to complete their CE in odd-numbered years by the end of their birth month.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Effective January 1, 202<\/strong>2<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The total number of Kansas insurance continuing education credits that must be completed in each biennial cycle is changing. <\/strong>Kanasas resident producers who hold a line of authority for a major line(s)\u00a0(Life and\/or Health, Property and\/or Casualty, Personal Lines) will now have a total of 18 hours\u00a0required. Of those 18 hours, 3 of the hours must in ethics credits. The remaining 15 hours are at the producer\u2019s discretion, so long as the hours are approved by the Department. There is no longer a limit for the number of hours of \u201cInsurance Agency Management\u201d (IAM) CE courses that a licensed producer may take.\u00a0<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Resident producers will begin to renew their licenses through NIPR (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nipr.com\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">www.nipr.com<\/a>).\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong>All resident producers, regardless of lines of authority, are required to pay a $4.00 biennial license renewal fee\u00a0which will be collected by NIPR at their first biennial renewal date following January 1, 2022.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Please contact the Kansas Insurance Department Producer Licensing Division at 785-296-7862 or\u00a0<a href=\"mailto:KID.Licensing@ks.gov\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">KID.Licensing@ks.gov<\/a>\u00a0if you have any further questions regarding these changes.
